Classroom Valentines

Hello! Today is my day to share over at My Craft Spot blog. I have a cute classroom Valentine idea. Sammy, my youngest, wanted Valentines with Swedish Fish--YUM! 

Here are her Valentines we made with My Craft Spot products:

*Of all the FISH in the sea, you are the ONLY one for me* is from the Down On The Farm stamp set. The sentiment is perfect for Sammy's Valentines.

I stamped *From:* using the Always and Forever stamp set. 

We added some Tickled Pink sequins for the bubbles. I tied the tag on with some twine from the Valentine Pack.

Sammy had so much fun making her Valentines this year. Using a Martha Stewart Stamp Mount with Foam, Sammy had an easy time stamping each tag perfectly. :)

Monday Challenge #85- Valentines For Kids

Hi everyone! I finally had a chance to upload the directions for my candy rocket project. :)

Lifesavers wrapped up to look like rockets. Easy and fun to make.

I stamped *You're out of this world*  from the Build A Valentine stamp set. I added the *kiss* or tip of the rocket using glue dots. I definitely would add a couple of glue dots for extra holding power. I cut the stars from the Doodlecharms cartridge cut at .70, .45., and 50". I glued the stars down with glossy accents. I added stickles for some sparkle.

I stamped a heart from the Build A Valentine stamp set and then wrote Sammy's name.

The lifesavers I had on hand measured 3" long. I cut the *flames* out of tissue paper by hand-super easy! 

I used a really strong tape (red tape) for the closing edge and ATG tape for the other two edges. I found I had more control wrapping the paper around the lifesaver roll. You can also see how I added flame layers to the edge. I added one piece of tissue paper at a time using ATG tape.

TIP: Try to slide the edge of the label towards the *kiss* or tip of the rocket, so it just covers the edge of the kiss--it really helps keep the kiss from falling off. Adds a little reinforcement.

Monday Challenge-#83 Bling It Up!

Welcome back to Rock Paper Cricut! Today's Monday challenge at My Craft Spot blog is all about the bling! Make a card or project, and *bling it up*. Here is my card:

I love this color combination. :) I used the *Tiny Doilies* metal dies to cut some red glitter paper for one of the layers used for my tag. The *I Love You* is from the Always & Forever stamp set by My Craft Spot. The little birdie is on page 44 from the Create A Critter 2, cut at 2.76 ". The little envelope is from the Sweethearts cartridge cut at .76", and found on page 49. I tied a little red cherry traditional twine bow across the top.

My Craft Spot Challenge #43 -Valentine's Day

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! I'm back today with another Monday challenge from My Craft Spot. Today's challenge is *Valentine's Day*. How perfect! 

I went with a valentine card for Dad.The *super dad* is from the
Father's Day cartridge. Some peppermint stick twine around
the card tied with a knot. The little red chevron paper bag is an
Itty Bitty bag, and is the perfect size for holding 4 wrapped Hersey's
chocolate nuggets.:) The tag is from the Doodlecharms cartridge.

*Happy Valentine's Day* and Be Mine from the
Build a Valentine set by My Craft Spot. I LOVE this set.

Now,in my first picture I added 3 large pearl
brads in grey, red, and black. Since I will be mailing
this card I took the brads off-still looks good. :)

You're Dino-mite!

Back today with another little valentine card idea. I love making little valentine's. I think it's the square shape. Plus, I always try to make them as close to 4x4", so I can make quite a few from a 12x12" piece of paper. I've been making these different *samples* for Sammy to pick out which one she wants to use for her preschool class. I'll need to find out if she can add a little treat or not. If she can, I'm leaning towards an idea that includes pink heart marshmallows and frogs. :)

I really like this one. I cut the card base on page 40 from the Elegant Edges
cartridge. The dinosaur is from the Create A Critter cartridge, cut at 2.75".
 The *word blurb* is the phrase feature on page 28 of Create A Critter.
 I used my cricut markers and set the size at 1.25". *You're Dino-mite*
is from the *Build a Valentine* set by My Craft Spot.

I popped up my little dino for added dimension. Let's
say you didn't add the heart-you could easily make this
into a birthday card. Just add it to a folded A2 card base.
For ALL of my valentines I make them postcard style.
I put the *To From* and any written message on the back. 

Tip: If you're new to adding Peachy Keen eyes to project, I thought
I would share how I do it. First, I use my Gypsy to *hide* the eye cut
or any other part of the face I want to stamp. I cut the layer that included the eye
cut for the dinosaur for a template. I layer that over the layer I actually
want to stamp, mark a dot with my pencil, and use the mark as a
guide for my *eye* placement.

I like to use the PK-760 Super Simple Eyes and Noses.
The eyes are really easy. I ink up one eye with Momento
black ink. Perfect for when you aren't wanting eyelashes
or eyebrows. Plus you can add the *highlight* anywhere
you want.

After I stamp the eye I go back with my white Signo
pen for the *highlight*. The final step is glossy accents.
Typed out it may seem like a lot of work, but it really isn't.

Bit By The Love Bug

I have another little set of valentines to share with you today. I've never made this little bug from Create a Critter, but I'm so glad I did. I thought it had several layers, but it only has four including the little heart. I used another cut from the Elegant Edges cartridge for the shaped card base. I added twine to the heart cut, which I show how below.

The *Love Bug* sentiment is perfect for this card and is from the
*Build a Valentine* set by My Craft Spot. I've used this set a lot!
I cut the card base from the Elegant Edges cartridge at 3.75" and
the little bug is from the Create a Critter cartridge cut at 2.75" I did
use my Gypsy to *hide* the bug face, so I could stamp a cute
little Peachy Keen face with some personality. :)

I used stone colored twine for the heart. 

The first thing I did was add red tacky tape to the back of the heart.
Be sure to leave the adhesive backing in place.

The next step is to turn the card over, start in the bottom corner
of the heart with your twine, following the heart shape, around
and around you'll go until you end up in the center of the heart.
Snip the twine as close to the heart as you can and push the end
of twine into the red tape. I used my pencil to help guild the twine
around the heart and then to tuck the end into the tape. Super easy!

Here is what it will look like when you are done.
It won't take long at all. I will be making cards with twine
shapes in the future! I might recommend stamping your sentiment first.

Here I used maraschino colored twine. I also added some
glossy accents for the heart. A little chalk for the checks
and she's good to go.

Tiny Treats For Valentine's Day

I'm back with some sweet little treats. I recently bought the Tim Holtz Mini Rosette die, and I love it! The die cuts two strips for making rosettes, and I used the smaller of the two strips. 

I made little boxes to hold a single chocolate heart. They are seriously so cute! The *Be Mine* sentiment is from the newly released stamp set *Build a Valentine* by My Craft Spot. The box is from the Sweet Tooth Boxes cartridge. I cut the box on pg.63 at 2.50". Tip: cut the lid to the box a little bigger or it won't fit-I actually cut the lid at 2.50" and the bottom of the box at 2.43". I didn't bother to score the box-the patterned paper I used was thin and folded easy. I put a little dab of glue to hold the box together. The boxes went together really quickly.

The heart is a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup. I bought mine at Target.

The paper is from Fancy Pants. The little bird is so cute. You could even stamp a little sentiment inside the bottom of the box before glueing it together. 

To make life easier, I like to use punches when I can with stamping. It's nice to stamp and then line things up with a punch instead of trying to stamp on a little strip of paper. I'll be posting soon about the punches I am now using with my crafting. I bought this punch from my friend Kirstin Davies, she's a Stampin UP demonstrator. :)

To add the little notches on the end of the stamped strip I use my square punch. I turn the punch over and line it up with the corner. If you don't have a square punch you can just use scissors. I personally have better luck with the punch.

The nice thing about using the punch to cut the notch is I can customize the strip to any size I need.
