Country Life

Hi everyone! It's kinda been a long week. Sammy is getting her two year molars and her sleep schedule is way off. On Tuesday she was up at 11:30 PM and didn't go back to sleep until 4:30 AM. I still had to get the big girls up to get ready for school at 5:00 AM. When Sam isn't feeling well all of my craft plans move to the back burner :( I do feel really bad for her--I can only imagine how uncomfortable she is-poor baby!

On different note--my friend Jill came over last weekend and we did get to craft some cuteness. We started a card set with the Country Life cartridge, and I finally had a chance to finish the cards up today.
Standard A2 sized cards.
I cut the countryside at 3 3/4", so it would fill in the card front
and give room to stamp my sentiment. I centered the sun and
then I just trimmed the excess off with my paper trimmer.
I chose to cut just three of the countryside layers-the handbook
gives the option of five layers, but I felt like five layers was kinda
*thick* and there really wouldn't be a big enough area for my
stamping. I dirtied up my little pig with Tim Holtz walnut ink and

added his eye with my Micron black pen.
I added some stitching and creamy brown Chalk ink to the edges
for a little depth. I popped up all of the animals with pop dots.
These little lambs with their black faces are so cute! Now the
handbook does have a cut layer for the face, but honestly the faces
didn't cut very well at this size, and they looked cuter left black.
I went back and added the horse's eyes with my black Micron pen. I
used the Swiss Dots embossing folder with my Cuttlebug for a
little texture on the sun.

Cuts:
  • Country Life cartridge pg.72
  • 3 3/4"  countryside and three layers
  • CL cartridge pg.41
  • 2" lambs and layers
  • CL cartridge pg.46
  • 2 1/4" horse
  • From My Kitchen cartridge pg.74
  • 1 3/4"  pig and layers
  • FMK cartridge pg.77
  • 1 3/4" rooster and layers
The two stamps sets I used are both by Scrappy Moms Stamps--*Furry Friends* and *The Charmed Life*. I hope you all enjoy the cards and have a great weekend :)

I'm really open to any helpful tips on dealing with teething...we need sleep!

Challenge-Create A Critter

Hi everyone! The Tuesday challenge over at Scrappy Moms Stamps is to use the Create A Critter cartridge. I received my Furry Friends stamp set last week, and it contains some really cute frog sentiments, so I decided to make a *froggy* set.

I decided to make a scalloped shaped lily pad with a straight edge
across the bottom so I'd have a place to stamp my sentiment. I picked the doily
card from the Wild Card cartridge and I used my Gyspy to hide the *holes*
detail around the scalloped edge. I cut the card at 2 1/2  with my trimmer
three times for four equally sized lily pads.
The one edge is cut straight across the top on two of the lily pads,
but it doesn't matter-I covered that edge with my little froggy.
I finished the edge with some stitching made with my
sewing machine. I love this sentiment.
I cut my dragonfly out with the layer 1 feature and used my gypsy
to hide his face. After I cut them out I used a pen to add the eyes.
I cut two layers of vellum for the wings and just layered them together.
The BoBunny Wasabi Dot paper was perfect for my little frog.
I love that one side of the paper has a dotted pattern and the other side
is more of a solid color.

Cuts:
  • Create a Critter cartridge pg.24
  • 3"  frog and all layers
  • Create a Critter cartridge pg.24
  • 3/4" foundation dragonfly
  • 3/4" layer 1 shift  dragonfly (I used my Gypsy to hide face)
  • Wild Card cartridge pg.52
  • 5 1/4  foundation doily card

I love how these cards turned out. I used wobbles on the frogs for a little something extra.

PKS-Think Spring Challenge

Hello everyone! This weeks Let's Face it Friday challenge over at PKS is- Think Spring. Well, the weather here is snowy and cold, so I am going to *think*... Spring Break! I would love to vacation somewhere warm and on a beach--maybe, Hawaii :) I made a card set featuring the cartridge Life's a Beach. I think the cards turned out super cute :)

I used the large Critter Faces stamp set for the sharks eye.
After *hiding* the sharks eye, I used the turkey eye for my shark eye.

I also used the new sentiment set, Furry Friends by
Scrappy Moms Stamps.
Again, I used the hide contour feature on my Gypsy to *hide* the fish
eyes and then stamped a single eye with the
PKS-755 Critter Faces Set Large.
I used the *turkey* face stamp, inked one eye at a time, and then
turned them upside down. I added some fun stitching with my sewing machine
for a
cool border. I created the ocean floor with a Fiskers border punch.
I added some ink on the edge for a little extra color.
I used glossy accents for the eyes.

The sentiment is from the Scrappy Moms stamp set- Amusing Animals.
This is the first time I've ever  created a *wave* with a sentiment and
an acrylic block-super easy and cute!
The bubbles are by Prima.
These are the *turkey* eyes that I used. I ink and stamp
one eye at a time, making sure I don't get any ink on the
eyebrow. I added white to the eyes with my
white Signo pen.
Recipe:
Cuts:
  • Life's a Beach cartridge pg.55
  • 3 1/4" shark and layer (I used my Gypsy to *hide* the eyes)
  • LAB cartridge pg.54
  • 2 3/4"  octopus and layer
  • LAB cartridge pg.53
  • 3 1/2 fish 1 and layers
I snapped a picture for you from our deck, and it's still snowing. Here's hoping I get to Hawaii sooner rather than later!

Scrappy Mom's Challenge

I decided to try the Scrappy Mom's Terrific Tuesday Challenge. The challenge was to use your Simply Charmed cartridge. Here is what I came up with.
I inked the edges with the Creamy Brown
ColorBox chalk ink. I added stitching with
my sewing machine.
The *Hello, Sweet Little One* sentiment if from the
Scrappy Mom's stamp set-The Charmed Life.
The sweet face is from the Peachy Keen stamp set
PK-754 Critter Faces set A Medium
By glueing down the outer twigs of the nest-it
gave the nest a *rounded* look.

Recipe:
  • Scrappy Mom's stamp set The Charmed Life
  • Peachy Keen Stamps PK-754 Critter faces SET a Medium
  • Simply Charmed cartridge
  • Create a Critter cartridge
  • AC cardstock
  • DCWV The Linen Closet stack
  • Creamy brown chalk ink
  • Scotch Quick Dry glue
  • Stampin Up Pop Dots
Cuts:
  • Simply Charmed cartridge pg.35
  • 2 1/2" shift chick and egg (I used my Gypsy to *hide* the face on the chick)
  • Create a Critter cartridge pg.53
  • 1 3/4" accessory nest
I was going for one of Martha Stewarts fancy chickens for my inspiration. I used my Gypsy to *hide* the face on the baby duck. I stamped the face and turned the duck into a chick. I popped the nest up with pop dots and glued the twig edges to create a rounded look to the nest. I know I will be making more of these cards with different chicks and beautifully colored speckled eggs. Perfect for spring!

I have to finish up valentines for tomorrow's post. Enjoy the rest of your weekend :)

You're a GREAT Catch

Hi everyone. What a great weekend. Maddie had a fun time at her school dance, and we went to see Megan's school play. Sammy sat through the whole play, which is a big deal since it was almost two hours long. Bravo, Megan! I hope you all enjoyed your weekend as well :)

I finished my valentines for the girls today, that I will be giving them tomorrow.
Since I couldn't *hide* the mouth of my fish with my Gypsy-
I only inked the eye from the Critter Faces stamp set
from Peachy Keen Stamps. I added glossy accents to the hearts
and to the eye of the fish. If you haven't ever added glossy
accents to your stamped faces yet, Kimberly at My Craft Spot
has an excellent video showing you exactly how, here.
I did pop the hearts up with pop dots.
Recipe:
Cuts:
  • Birthday Bash cartridge pg.31
  • 4" card & tag stamp base and white layer
  • Create a Critter cartridge pg.43
  • 1 1/2" foundation fish and layers (I *hid* the eye with my Gypsy)
  • CAC cartridge pg. 66
  • .45, .35. and .25" layer 1 heart (sized with the Gypsy)
I wish my pictures would turn out better. Maddie took a sneak peek at the cards and she said they were the cutest ones yet. I wrote *hugs and fishes* on the backside of the card. Sammy is going to be excited to get some of her favorite snacks (goldfish crackers) for the *special treat*. I love it!!!
Have a great day!

Be Mine

Hi everyone! I'm sure everyone is looking forward to the weekend. Our weekend is going to be really busy, but super fun! Maddie has a school dance and Megan's play is running this weekend. The play is The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe-I can't wait to go see it! Also, I have some craft projects I want to finish, and my friend Jill is coming over to craft-FUN!

Today's valentine is super cute, easy to make, and the girls loved them. :)
I flipped my little mouse, so he would be looking to the right.
Instead of a folded card I cut the card in half, and
then I had a postcard style valentine.
I did this for all my valentines.
I added black enamel accents for the eyes
and glossy accents for the nose.
Examples of the love notes I wrote on the backside.
